Privacy Policy

• Your tap and motion sensor data stays on your Mac.
• Sensor readings are processed in real time and are not recorded.
• Your gesture configuration and preferences are stored locally.
• Shortap does not use analytics, telemetry or advertising trackers.
• Shortap does not require a user account.
• We do not collect information about which gestures, actions or Apple Shortcuts you use.
• We do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.

Shortap uses motion sensor data available on supported MacBook models to detect physical taps on your MacBook.

Sensor readings are processed locally and in real time to determine whether a supported gesture occurred, such as a single, double or triple tap on the left or right side of your MacBook.

This sensor data is not recorded, saved to disk, uploaded, or sent to us or to any analytics service.

Once the readings have been evaluated, they are discarded.

Your Shortap configuration is stored locally on your Mac.

This may include:

• Left and right tap assignments
• Single, double and triple tap settings
• Assigned Shortap actions
• Assigned Apple Shortcuts
• Sensitivity and detection preferences
• Other app preferences

We do not receive this information and cannot see how you have configured or used Shortap.

When Shortap triggers an action, such as taking a screenshot, controlling media, changing a system setting or running an Apple Shortcut, the action is performed locally through macOS.

Shortap does not receive or upload the result of those actions.

Shortap uses standard macOS storage mechanisms to save its settings and preferences locally on your device.

This information is not synced to a Shortap account or to our servers.

You can reset Shortap's settings from within the app where available. Uninstalling an application on macOS may not automatically remove every preference or cache created by the operating system.

Shortap is sold as a one-time purchase through Polar.sh.

Polar processes the information required to complete your purchase, which may include your name, email address, billing information, payment information, IP address, tax information and transaction details.

Shortap does not directly process or store your full payment card details.

Polar acts as the Merchant of Record for purchases and handles payments, receipts, taxes and related transaction services according to its own terms and privacy policy.

Depending on Polar's services and merchant tools, limited purchase-related information such as your email address, order status and transaction reference may be available to us when necessary to provide purchase support or process a refund.

Shortap uses Amore and the Sparkle update framework to distribute application updates outside the Mac App Store.

When Shortap checks for an update, it connects to Amore's update infrastructure.

Like a normal request to a web server, an update request may expose limited technical information including:

• Your IP address
• Your installed Shortap version
• The date of the update request

According to Amore, this information is used to provide updates and count downloads. Amore does not use it to build a profile of how you use Shortap.

Shortap does not send your taps, sensor readings, gesture configuration, Apple Shortcuts, files or app activity to Amore.

Shortap does not include product analytics, behavioral analytics, usage telemetry or advertising trackers.

We do not track:

• Which gestures you use
• How often you use Shortap
• Which actions you trigger
• Which Apple Shortcuts you run
• Which apps you interact with
• Your sensor readings
• Your files or screenshots

We therefore cannot create a usage profile based on your activity inside Shortap.

Shortap may request macOS permissions required to perform features you choose to use.

Depending on the features enabled, these may include permissions such as Accessibility or Automation.

These permissions are controlled by macOS and can be reviewed or revoked at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Shortap uses these permissions only to perform actions that you configure.

Granting these permissions does not cause your gesture data or Mac activity to be uploaded to us.

Shortap can trigger shortcuts that you have created using Apple's Shortcuts app.

Shortap requests macOS to run the selected shortcut locally.

Shortap does not receive, upload or store the contents of your shortcuts on our servers.

Please note that an individual Apple Shortcut may itself communicate with third-party services depending on how you created it. Those communications are controlled by the shortcut and the services it uses, not by Shortap.

If you contact us directly for support, feedback or a refund, we will receive the information that you voluntarily include in your message.

We use that information only to respond to your request.

If you contact us through a third-party service such as X, that service processes your communication according to its own privacy policy.

Shortap relies on a small number of external services for functionality outside the local operation of the app:

• Polar.sh — purchases, payment processing, taxes, receipts and related transaction services
• Amore — application distribution and update delivery
• Apple / macOS — system frameworks, permissions and Apple Shortcuts integration

These providers process information according to their own privacy policies.

None of these services receive Shortap's motion sensor readings, tap history or gesture configuration from Shortap.

Shortap is not specifically directed at children under 13.

Shortap itself does not operate accounts or collect behavioral data from users. Purchase information is handled through Polar according to Polar's own policies.

Shortap itself does not maintain a database of your gesture activity, sensor readings or app usage.

If we hold limited information associated with a purchase or a support request, you may contact us to request access, correction or deletion where applicable.

Purchase and transaction records may need to be retained by Polar or by us where required by tax, accounting or other legal obligations.

We may update this Privacy Policy if Shortap's functionality or the services it relies on change.

The latest version will always be published on this page together with the date it was last updated.

If a future Shortap feature materially changes how personal information is processed, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
