• Shortap is a one-time purchase with no subscription.
• Your license may cover 1, 2 or 3 Macs, depending on the license you purchase.
• Lifetime updates to Shortap are included.
• Every purchase includes a 14-day money-back guarantee.
• Shortap is designed for supported Apple silicon MacBook models running macOS 14.6 or later.
• Tap detection depends on MacBook hardware and may behave differently between devices and environments.
• You are responsible for how you physically tap your MacBook and for the actions you assign to Shortap.

Shortap is a macOS utility that detects physical taps on supported MacBook models and lets you assign actions to those gestures.

Depending on your configuration, Shortap may trigger actions such as screenshots, media controls, system controls, keyboard commands, application launches or Apple Shortcuts.

Tap detection is performed using motion sensor data available on supported MacBook hardware. Features may be added, changed, improved or removed over time.

When you purchase Shortap, you receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to install and use the App on the number of Macs included with the license you purchased.

Available licenses may include:

• 1 Mac
• 2 Macs
• 3 Macs

Your license may be used for both personal and commercial purposes, provided that the license is used by you and remains within the permitted device limit.

You may not:

• Sell, sublicense, rent or redistribute Shortap
• Share, publish or resell your license key
• Make Shortap available to others as a standalone product
• Circumvent or attempt to bypass licensing or device restrictions
• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to extract the source code of Shortap, except where such restrictions are prohibited by applicable law
• Copy or distribute modified versions of Shortap without permission

We may suspend or revoke a license that we reasonably believe has been shared, abused, obtained fraudulently or used to circumvent licensing restrictions.

Shortap relies on motion sensor hardware available in supported MacBook models.

Shortap currently requires:

• macOS 14.6 Sonoma or later
• A supported Apple silicon MacBook
• MacBook Air with M2 or newer, where supported
• MacBook Pro with M1 Pro / M1 Max or newer, where supported

Intel Macs and unsupported MacBook models are not supported.

Apple does not publicly document every aspect of the motion sensor hardware used by Shortap across every MacBook model. Sensor behavior, sensitivity and availability may therefore differ between models.

A MacBook model that technically meets the requirements may still behave differently because of hardware revisions, macOS changes or environmental conditions.

We recommend testing Shortap on your Mac during the 14-day refund period.

Shortap is designed to detect light physical taps on your MacBook.

You should never hit, slap or strike your MacBook with excessive force.

You are solely responsible for how much physical force you apply to your device.

Physical impact can potentially damage computer hardware. This may include damage to:

• The display
• Enclosure
• Trackpad
• Keyboard
• Speakers
• Hinges
• Internal components
• Sensors
• Other hardware

Use only the minimum amount of force necessary for Shortap to reliably detect your gesture.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for physical damage caused by hitting, tapping, striking, dropping or otherwise applying force to your MacBook.

Shortap does not require or encourage forceful impacts.

Tap detection is based on physical sensor readings and cannot be guaranteed to be perfectly accurate.

Shortap may occasionally:

• Miss a tap
• Detect an unintended tap
• Interpret the number of taps incorrectly
• Trigger an assigned action unintentionally
• Behave differently depending on your desk, surface, MacBook model or sensitivity settings

You are responsible for choosing appropriate actions for your gestures and configuring sensitivity appropriately.

We recommend avoiding assignment of destructive, irreversible or safety-critical actions to gestures that could cause significant consequences if accidentally triggered.

Shortap can trigger Apple Shortcuts and other actions that you configure.

You are responsible for the actions, automations, scripts, applications and Shortcuts you choose to trigger.

An Apple Shortcut or other action may itself:

• Modify or delete files
• Send messages
• Make network requests
• Control other applications
• Communicate with third-party services
• Perform other automated actions

Shortap does not control what your Apple Shortcuts or third-party applications do after they are triggered.

You are responsible for reviewing and safely configuring any automation you assign to a Shortap gesture.

Shortap is sold as a one-time purchase.

There are no recurring subscription charges unless a separate optional product or service is explicitly offered and purchased in the future.

Purchases are processed through Polar.sh, which acts as Merchant of Record for the transaction.

Polar handles payment processing, applicable taxes, invoices, receipts and related purchase operations according to its own terms.

Your purchase may therefore also be subject to Polar's Buyer Terms and other applicable policies.

Every Shortap purchase includes a 14-day money-back guarantee.

If Shortap does not work for you, does not work correctly on your MacBook, or you simply decide that it is not right for you, you may request a full refund within 14 days of your original purchase.

No questions asked.

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through our payment provider.

Once a purchase has been refunded, the associated Shortap license may be deactivated and you must stop using the App.

This voluntary guarantee does not limit any additional refund, withdrawal or consumer rights that may apply to you under applicable law.

Refund requests received after 14 days may be considered at our discretion or where required by law.

A Shortap purchase includes lifetime updates for the Shortap product you purchased.

For the purposes of these Terms, “lifetime updates” means updates made available for Shortap for as long as the Shortap product continues to be actively maintained and distributed.

It does not mean the lifetime of the purchaser, a particular Mac, Apple, the developer or any other person or company.

Lifetime updates do not guarantee that:

• Shortap will be developed indefinitely
• Every existing feature will remain forever
• Every future MacBook or macOS version will be supported
• Apple will continue to expose the hardware or system functionality Shortap relies on
• A completely separate future product will be included with your Shortap license

As long as Shortap continues to be maintained as the same product, existing customers with lifetime updates will receive updates made available for that product without an additional update subscription.

Shortap may use Amore and the Sparkle update framework to check for and distribute new versions of the App.

We may release updates containing new features, improvements, compatibility changes, security fixes or bug fixes.

Although we aim to maintain compatibility with new versions of macOS and supported MacBooks, we cannot guarantee that future hardware or operating system changes made by Apple will remain technically compatible with Shortap.

Apple may modify or remove APIs, permissions, hardware access or other functionality that Shortap depends on.

Shortap is designed to be local-first.

Motion sensor readings, tap detection, gesture configuration and Shortap actions are processed locally on your Mac and are not uploaded to us.

Shortap does not include behavioral analytics or usage telemetry.

Purchase processing and application updates may involve limited communication with third-party providers such as Polar and Amore as described in our Privacy Policy.

Your use of Shortap is also governed by the Shortap Privacy Policy.

Shortap may rely on third-party services or technologies, including:

• Polar.sh for purchases and payment-related services
• Amore / Sparkle for application update delivery
• Apple / macOS for system functionality, permissions and Apple Shortcuts

These services are operated independently and may have their own terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for outages, interruptions, changes, errors or availability problems caused by third-party services.

Shortap, including its source code, design, name, logo, website, graphics, text and other original materials, is owned by the developer or its applicable licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Purchasing Shortap gives you a license to use the App. It does not transfer ownership of Shortap or its intellectual property to you.

All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

You agree not to use Shortap:

• For unlawful purposes
• To damage, disrupt or interfere with another person's device, systems or data
• To circumvent security protections
• To violate the privacy, intellectual property or other rights of another person
• In connection with malicious automation or unauthorized access

You are responsible for all actions and automations you configure Shortap to trigger.

Shortap is provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we make no warranties, express, implied or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, reliability or compatibility.

We do not guarantee that Shortap will:

• Always detect every tap correctly
• Never trigger accidentally
• Work without interruption or errors
• Work with every MacBook configuration
• Remain compatible with every future macOS release
• Remain compatible with every future Apple hardware change

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of Shortap.

This includes, without limitation:

• Loss of data
• Loss of files
• Loss of profits or business
• Accidental actions triggered by a gesture
• Changes made by Apple or macOS
• Damage caused by third-party Shortcuts, scripts or applications
• Physical damage caused by striking or applying excessive force to your MacBook

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for claims relating to Shortap will not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages and reasonable expenses arising from:

• Your misuse of Shortap
• Actions or automations that you configure
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of applicable law or third-party rights

You may stop using Shortap at any time by uninstalling the App.

We may suspend or revoke your license if you materially violate these Terms, including if you:

• Redistribute Shortap
• Publicly share or resell a license key
• Fraudulently obtain a license
• Circumvent device or licensing restrictions

Termination does not affect provisions that by their nature should continue to apply, including intellectual property ownership, disclaimers and limitations of liability.

Shortap is an independent application.

Shortap is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Apple Inc.

Apple, Mac, MacBook, macOS and Shortcuts are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the United States and other countries and regions.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hungary, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of Hungary, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring a claim in another jurisdiction or requires otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.

We may update these Terms when Shortap, applicable laws or the services we rely on change.

The latest version will always be published on this page with an updated revision date.

If we make a material change that significantly affects existing customers, we may provide notice through the App, website, email or another reasonable method.

Changes will not retroactively remove rights already granted with your purchase where doing so would be prohibited by applicable law.
